Turning donations of clothing and goods into community services since 1962

Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley (GICV), Inc. is a community-based member organization of Goodwill Industries International, a 179-member network in the U.S., Canada, and 13 other countries.

When most people hear the name "Goodwill," they think of the stores that sell items donated by the public.  But that’s only part of the larger great story.  The lesser-known, but very critical role that Goodwill agencies play is to provide job training and employment support services to individuals with disadvantages and disabilities, the unemployed and underemployed, dislocated workers, youth, and other job seekers.  The greatest financial support for these in-demand services comes from the role for which the Goodwill name is best known.

GICV directs approximately 91 cents of every dollar generated from the sale of donated clothing and goods, from its 10 Goodwill Retail Stores in Altoona, Bedford, Blairsville, Ebensburg, Huntingdon, Indiana, Northern Cambria, Richland, Somerset, and Westwood, into education, career services, and other needed community programs.

In 2011, GICV transformed donations into services for 29,830 individuals in our region.
